Checking in...

So, I guess I'm about a billion notes into the winter tour.... time to check in. We are in Boulder and have a day off. The other guys are knee deep in laundry, I just decided to burn mine. I am recovering from an epic bout with Barryprivettittus, which I believe I contracted @ Portland. The funniest (most unfortunate) bonus of this affliction, is a constant feeling of disorientation and dizziness. So playing a show is a real challenge.... seeing Tom heading (like a soldier storming the beach at Normandy, armed with a accordion instead of a rifle) straight (at a 45 degree angle, as I see it) toward me during any given song can be really surreal. Kind of gives me a "I am living in a Pink Floyd video" vibe.

Last night was fun here at the Fox theater in Boulder. We had radio, sound check, an in-store, and the show... a busy day. So as I am changing the strings on one of my guitars right before the show, I get a cramp in my right hand index finger ( from here on referred to by the sound "doink").... have you ever had a bad cramp (leg, toe, anything)? It usually involves a loud expletive and some sort of dramatic physical reaction, this is no exception. Sooo, I am concerned, perplexed, and amused all at the same time.... obviously seeing potential for trouble on the horizon. I started trying to warm up and after a few minutes, "doink"... and there goes my guitar pick through the air. This could be a good night... I decided to just look at it as a higher power suggesting that I needed to throw more picks into the audience (raising my "rockstar" image). I apologize to anyone who lost an eye in the front row as a result. Helmets and goggles from now on.

Have you ever had to pack for a 2 month trip? That is a lot of socks! It usually takes a while (but not always) to figure out what you forgot. Although I remembered all of my music gear..... I forgot cold weather gear. LONGJOHNS!!!! As we are now heading into the "winter storm of the century" (I think this title carries a little more weight when you are more than 7 years into the century). So, if you are on your way to a show and you see an oddly burdened blue post.... stop and thaw me!!

Oh, please, I need tips on packing for a two-month trip! I may be going on one this summer! (WOOT!)

Anyway, I am all excited to see you guys soon. I'll say hi after the show...last time I just said hi to Barry, but since he seems so full of germs, maybe I'll have to seek the rest of you guys out instead. ;)

Oww. Laughter. Be happy, at least it's getting warmer... it was 10 degrees when I came home today... so nice that I nearly went for a walk...

Err, I will have to look out for wayward picks in the future... maybe when you toss them add some sort of warning... like... say "doink"...? You know. What about "doink" beneath the sea. Love Loss "Doink" Repeat. It'll be a nice change to the songs.... or a change...

YAY! Carter is back! We've missed your stories!
More picks in the crowd would be great, but no need to worry about that rock star image...yours is just fine...but throw in one of those big rock star jumps every once in a while. I know you can do them; I've seen them!
Get to feeling better and for Christs sake, stop by a Target and get some long johns!

YAY Carter blogged again! LOL ... sounds painful. I've gotten cramps in my hands before and it wasn't fun.

Hope you have a chance to stop and get some longjohns soon! We don't want you to freeze!

Erin

I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, but do you guys know around what time you'll be playing Shamrock Fest? I'd LOVE LOVE to see y'all but I have dumb commitments for a lot of that day that I have to go to and so I'll only get a ticket if you guys are playing at certain times and the prices keep going up!! I REALLY hope I can come!!!!!!!!!!!
